Tarot – What To Expect

Booking a Tarot reading is a deeply personal decision and it’s important that you feel informed, comfortable and supported throughout the experience. A tarot session will usually last around 45 minutes giving you sufficient time to ask questions and gain clarity from the reading. Below are some things to consider:
Reader Experience
At Feather and Flame, your reading may be offered by Nix or Emryn, both of whom bring unique experience, insight and compassionate presence to their work.
Nix
Nix is an intuitive Tarot reader with a background in energy work. Her approach is gentle, empowering and insightful. She draws on symbolism, intuition and reflective questioning to help you connect more deeply with your inner wisdom. Nix has worked with clients around the world and is passionate about creating a safe and supportive space, especially for those seeking clarity, healing or direction.
Emryn
Emryn has worked with Tarot for over 30 years. Her practice draws on mythic and ancestral wisdom to help clients reconnect with lost parts of themselves and move through life transitions with integrity and insight. Emryn creates a non-judgmental space for clients to ask big questions, work through inner blockages and step into their truth.
Both Nix and Emryn offer online readings to clients worldwide, using Tarot as a tool for personal growth, insight and reconnection.
Trust, Comfort and Clarity
It’s important that you feel safe and at ease with your reader and the process. Before your first session starts you will be offered the opportunity to discuss what answers you are looking for, how a reading works and whether Tarot is the right fit for your needs at this time.
You’re always encouraged to ask questions, whether about the structure of the reading, what Tarot can or can’t offer or how it may support your personal journey. If, during consultation, we feel that Tarot may not be the most helpful route for you, we may suggest an alternative approach or decline the session with compassion and respect.
Cost and Payment
Readings are usually 45 minutes long and are priced at £50. Payment is required in advance at the time of booking confirmation. Bank transfer and PayPal are accepted. Readings are conducted either online via video call or in-person.
Getting the Most from Your Tarot Reading
Tarot isn’t for yes/no answers or precise timings. Instead, it offers deeper insight and guidance to help you navigate your path with clarity and confidence.
Our readings are insight-driven, designed to support your personal growth and decision-making.
Cold Readings
If you prefer a cold reading; a reading where you don’t share any information upfront, we are happy to offer that. It can be a good introduction to tarot or a way to see how we work.
It is important to note, the more context you provide, the more focused and helpful your reading can become.
For example, instead of asking:
“Should I leave my job?”
You might say:
“I’m unhappy in my current job and considering a career change but I need stability to support my family. What obstacles might I face if I make a move in the next six months?”
or
“What kind of work would align with my goals and offer the security I need?”
How to Prepare for a Tarot Reading
1. Set Your Intention
Before your reading, take a quiet moment. Ask yourself:
What’s been weighing on my heart?
What clarity or healing am I seeking?
You don’t need to phrase a perfect question but thinking about what you need an answer to is helpful. It is possible for us to provide a general reading but you will gain the most value from a reading if you have a specific scenario you want guidance on.
2. Open Your Mind
Tarot doesn’t predict the future, it reflects your energy, options and inner landscape. Be open to messages that affirm, challenge or shift your perspective.
3. Reflect, Don’t React
If you are having an online reading:
Have a journal nearby, jot down any insights or emotions that arise during the reading. What resonates deeply? What feels like an invitation?
Revisit the Reading
Tarot continues to unfold. Return to your notes in a few days. New connections often appear in hindsight
